The Story Within
the Story
This powerful little book is simple yet profound. The drawings are whimsical
and the messages are inspirational, clear and concise and easily accessible to
those who are open to their truths.
The most powerful story, however, is the story of how the book came into being.
When Alan (The Crazy Ole Man) began his early morning walks and meditations he
was open but still surprised by the guidance he received. Whispers in his ear
came in complete sentences and he would quickly write them down in his
notebook. Not only did the messages serve him on his journey, but after awhile
it became clear that the messages were meant to be shared.
Marylou, his wife, actually became aware of this before Alan did. As an artist
she was inspired by the beauty of the words and began incorporating them into
her paintings. After awhile it was clear that a book was emerging so she began
to extract key messages, draw sweet little pictures and then compiled it all
into what is now known as “It’s The Stories You Tell That Color Your Life”.
These two have been married 33 for years and have together and separately
developed their unique gifts. They have had so many adventures, so many ups and
downs and ins and outs, but they never expected they would be on this
particular path together. Looking back at all of their experiences they can see
that a common thread has led them to this moment. Miraculously their
partnership is beginning to make sense.

Who really is The Crazy Ole Man
Alan is not unfamiliar with creative endeavors as
well, working for the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco during the
late 60’s, doing some painting of his own, and running successful business
workshops to help small businesses survive in these tough economic times. While managing a reputable, nationwide
food service chain, his younger employees who had great respect for his
integrity and quirky nature, gave him the nickname of the “Crazy Ole Man.” The name stuck and Falstreau embraced
the persona of the Crazy Ole Man.
In April of 2008, early morning walks on the beach near their home on the Central
Coast would inspire visions and teachings in which he would jot down on a
notepad as they came to him. It
wasn’t long until several pages turned into hundreds of pages of inspiration
and insight into life and how to be happy and successful. Not knowing what to do with the
messages, he shared them with his wife who soon began to create illustrations
to match portions of his story, which were ultimately their story and our story
as well. And "It's The Stories You Tell That Color Your Life" was born.
